Bilsdale Midcable

Children are admitted to school in the September after the school year (1st September-31st August) in which they become four.  This does mean that some children are admitted just before they become five years of age.  Others will have only just turned four years of age.  Despite this we now admit all our new starters on a full-time basis.

Experience shows that even the youngest four year olds adjust very quickly to the demands of a full day at school and we certainly see the benefits academically and socially for all children.    We are prepared to discuss this situation with any parents who may have concerns about their child’s readiness for full-time education.

Parents who wish their children to attend our school are invited to enrol them on our admission list at least a year before they start to assist our planning procedures.

Late in the Autumn Term in the year preceding admission parents will receive a form which will enable them to express a preference for a place in the school of their choice online.  Places will be offered to parents towards the end of the following Spring Term.   In the event of a parent not being offered a place at the school of their choice, then the Local Authority will offer an appeal under the School Standards and Framework Act 1998.

Applying for a place

As with all community and voluntary controlled schools in North Yorkshire, the Local Authority is in charge of managing the admissions process. This includes all admissions to the school, whether you wish your 4 year old to start school in September or whether you have moved into the area during the academic year.

The school is always happy to give guided tours to any parent/carer who is interested in applying for a place. Please contact the school to make an appointment.

To apply for a place at Bilsdale Midcable Chop gate CE Primary School, complete the online form on North Yorkshire County Council’s own website. Please click here to access their website and more information, or to download an application form.

If you would like a paper copy of the form, please contact the School Admissions Team on 0845 0349494. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact the school office.

Carlton & Faceby

As we are a Voluntary Aided school, the Governing Body is the Admissions Authority for the school. The Governing Body is responsible for determining the school’s admissions arrangements and deciding who can be offered a place in accordance with it. Admissions arrangements are determined having had regard to the York Diocesan Board of Education’s guidance and are operated in accordance with North Yorkshire County Council’s co-ordinated admissions schemes. Admissions policies and supplementary information forms for 2021/22 are included below.

Children have the opportunity of taking up a full-time place at school from the September immediately preceding their fifth birthday.  We are pleased to have private nursery provision where younger children are able to become gradually familiar with school and its routines.

All schools are very different and choosing the right one for your child is not an easy task.  We wish you every success in finding the school which best suits your child’s unique personality, interests and learning needs.
