Inclusion

At Carlton & Faceby and Bilsdale CE Federation, we are committed to ensuring that every child is welcomed, valued and enabled to flourish. Guided by our Christian vision and values, we believe that inclusion is at the heart of everything we do. We strive to create a nurturing environment where all pupils, including those with additional needs and SEND, feel safe, respected and have a genuine sense of belonging.
Our Inclusion Strategy sets out how we identify and remove barriers to learning, participation and achievement, enabling every child to access an ambitious curriculum, enriching experiences and the support they need to reach their full potential. It reflects our commitment to high-quality teaching, strong partnerships with families, early intervention and evidence-informed practice.
As a federation of small rural schools, we are proud of the personalised approach we offer. Staff know pupils and families well, allowing us to build strong relationships, respond quickly to emerging needs and tailor support to individual children. Through collaboration with pupils, parents, governors and external agencies, we continually review and develop our provision to ensure it meets the needs of our school community.
Our strategy is aligned with North Yorkshire's Inclusive Mainstream Toolkit and is underpinned by the principles of belonging, participation, high aspirations, relational practice and inclusive education for all. We want every child to leave our schools as a confident, resilient and independent learner, ready for the next stage of their education and life.
