Recent Ofsted Inspection
1st March 2017
Dear Parents/ Carers,
Following our recent short Ofsted inspection, I have great pleasure in writing to you on behalf of the Governors attaching the letter from Senior HMI Lithgow. The judgement that ‘This school continues to be good ’ is richly deserved by Mrs McDonald and her excellent team and I am sure you will join me in congratulating all involved. Under Mrs McDonald’s leadership the school has embraced changes to the Ofsted framework with enthusiasm; this is driven by a determination to provide the very best possible teaching and learning opportunities for all the pupils without ever losing sight of the caring and supportive ethos that makes our school’s learning environment so rich.
In light of historic events, this is a tremendous achievement and is one that the school community truly deserves. I am thrilled that the Inspector obviously recognised the tireless hard work, commitment, dedication and diligent professionalism that occur every day across our school. It is most gratifying to read that ‘The leadership team has maintained the good quality of education in the school since the last inspection’ and that ‘Pupils in the school are making good progress.’ Additionally, Senior HMI Lithgow acknowledged that ‘Pupils experience a wealth of additional activities to support their development.’
It was encouraging to read the very positive comments about confederation, which is an important aspect of our schools’ joint philosophy concerning education and ethos.
School leaders and Governors accept Ofsted’s findings and would like to take this opportunity to thank all parents and carers who completed the Ofsted parental survey on-line. Your comments were very helpful to the team. I feel it is worth clarifying that Carlton and Faceby School strives to be friendly, open and responsive in all matters and is eager to receive your comments, concerns and feedback throughout the year.
Continuing to be ‘good’ will not bring a hint of complacency and we continue to share a constant desire for improvement. We have a detailed development plan in place to map growth throughout the school and the work to improve our early year’s outdoor resources and assessment is already underway. Please feel free to contact Mrs McDonald or myself via the school, if you wish to discuss any aspect of the report further.
Mrs Barbara Milburn
There will be Maths workshops next term - dates will be notified shortly.
The children would like to welcome you to both Carlton and Faceby and Bilsdale Midcable Chop Gate schools website.
We are two small, vibrant Church of England primary schools, located within the beautiful North Yorkshire Moors National Park. We work closely together to ensure a happy family atmosphere where the learning is exciting, the children are inspired and motivated to learn in a variety of dynamic ways and independence of thought is encouraged.
The children of both schools are continually adding to the website so please enjoy sharing their website and celebrating with them their news and events as they happen.
If you would like to find out more about our schools, please arrange to come and visit us, the children would love to share their schools with you.
