Community Links

Our schools strive to forge strong links with the communities we serve and beyond.

We are encouraged at both schools to care for the wider world through fundraising, regularly participating in events such as ” Children in Need”, “Hambledon Food Share”, “Red Nose Day”, “Marie Curie Mini Pots of Care” and “Sport Relief.”

Each year staff and governors and ourselves meet together to share Christmas lunch.

Invitations are extended to the community to join and celebrate our achievements at school concerts and performances e.g. Harvest Festival, Christingle, Nativity and Easter services and the End of Year Concert.

Our teachers hold curriculum workshop/information evenings each year to keep people informed.

A key event on the calendar with the community is the Remembrance Day service at Bilsdale.

We also take part in the village dramatics show, in addition to the two local agricultural shows.

There are induction days for new starters at both our schools.

The Carlton children in KS1 regularly have special assemblies or small concerts with “Little Owls” nursery for the children’s parents

Safeguarding

The Carlton & Faceby and Bilsdale Church of England Federation schools are committed to ensuring the welfare and safety of all children in school. All North Yorkshire schools, including the federated Schools, follow the North Yorkshire Safeguarding Children Board procedures. The schools will, in most circumstances, endeavour to discuss all concerns with parent/carers about their child/ren. However, there may be exceptional circumstances when the school will discuss concerns with Social Care and/or the Police without parental knowledge (in accordance with Child Protection procedures). The school will, of course, always aim to maintain a positive relationship with all parent/carers. The school’s child protection policy is available on request.

Further information for parents is available on N.Yorks SCB website www.safeguardingchildren.co.uk NSPCC website www.nspcc.org.uk www.ceop.gov.uk )
