Computing

Computing is an important resource for teachers and students to ensure a high quality of learning takes place. Therefore, learnings from discrete computing lessons should be embedded across the entire curriculum. It is important that the appropriate skills are taught in computing and there is opportunity to apply these skills confidently and competently whether working independently or in partnership.

As a key resource, computing should enable teachers to teach, plan and assess efficiently and effectively through the provision of memorable learning experiences which both inspire and motivate children thus enabling them to make excellent progress

At Carlton and Faceby and Bilsdale Midcable Chop Gate Schools we aim to excel in our provision and use of computing by:

  • building on our children’s natural curiosity to ensure they are awakened to the possibilities computers can offer to both them and society at large.
  • keeping up-to-date with the rapid developments in computing to ensure that our children are confident users of computing in the 21st century.
  • using computing to support administrative tasks and to provide good access to school-related data.
  • using computing to communicate with the wider community, through email, through the school website and our Virtual Learning Environment.

The investment in our computing infrastructure ensures it is at all times robust, safe, reliable, efficient, has appropriate access and an effective disaster recovery whilst at all times giving consideration the environmental impact of our work and purchasing decision.

Our curriculum is mapped out to ensure our children all become a;

  • digital citizen who is safe and responsible
  • digital creator who is logical and creative
  • digital communicator who is digitally literate
